Liquid rhinoplasty

Liquid rhinoplasty - Liquid nose job

Stellen Sie eine Frage

Rhinoplasty is the most popular plastic surgery procedure, equally desired by both women and men. Surgical correction of the nose is done most often for aesthetic purposes, but in many cases is performed in order to correct a variety of functional defects.

In some cases, the surgery is not necessary, as the correction of the nose can be performed non-operatively, ie. Nonsurgical rhinoplasty. The procedure is commonly known as Liquid Rhinoplasty or Liquid nose job and it is an injection of dermal filler in the nose in order to temporarily change its structure and appearance.

Nonsurgical rhinoplasty can change the shape of the nose, straighten an existing hump, shape the nose tip and correct the nostrils. The aesthetic result of the procedure can be identical to the surgery result, but the difference is that it is not permanent.

Liquid rhinoplasty is performed under local anesthesia, and usually the nose modeling is by injecting a dermal filler based on hyaluronic acid with different density (HA filler-products of Juvéderm, Restylane or others), in order to achieve a certain result. Other options are lipofilling (injection of your own adipose tissue-fat transfer) or Radiesse (a calcium-based filler that is thicker than hyaluronic acid and lasts 12 to 18 months but the filler is not absorbable). The procedure of injecting the hyaluronic acid for nasal modeling lasts from 10 to 30 minutes. There are several techniques for filler injecting:

- for straightening the nose or correcting the hump, a minimum amount of filler is injected in 3 or 4 sites in the back of the nose, and after that a pressure or massage is applied to adjust the filler;
- for modeling the nose tip /drooping or flattened tip / the injection is directly at the tip of the nose, subdermal. In some cases, it is recommended to inject Botox into the nostrils in order to block the muscles responsible for facial expressions in this area of the face;
- for correction of lower lateral cartilages (deformity correction, such as difference in the heights of the left and right side or for cartilage modeling), the filler is injected intradermally;
The procedure is painless, there may be a slight discomfort in the next 24 to 48 hours. Probable side effects are redness, bruising and mild swelling, which disappears within a day or two.

The purpose of non-surgical rhinoplasty can be:

- adding volume at the base of the nose / augmentation of a flat nasal bridge (depressed dorsum)
- modeling and lifting the nose tip/added projection of the nasal tip/
- correction of the columella /the barrier between the two nostrils /
- reduction of the size of the nostrils
- reduction of the hump
- nose straightening
- profile contouring

Non-surgical rhinoplasty can shape a regular contour of the nose, but it cannot make the nose smaller or finer, because the dermal filler always adds volume to the injected area. After this procedure, the nose may appear wider, but straight or without a hump. The ideal candidate for the procedure is a patient with a small nose, whose goal is to lift the tip of the nose and straighten the back of the nose (nosebridge). The non-surgical rhinoplasty is not recommended for the correction of congenital or acquired defects such as trauma to the nose or a fracture, as well as in patients wishing to reduce the size of the nose. The positive effects of the Liquid rhinoplasty is a minimal and mild recovery period, lack of surgical incision and reversible result.

When planning a non-surgical nose correction, the use of alcohol, taking medications to thin the blood (incl. Aspirin and its derivatives), vitamin E, are strictly forbidden for 2 days before and 2 days after the procedure. It is recommended to take Arnica or use medications that contain this ingredient (Ex. Arnigel, Arnicare, etc.). In the presence of edema after the procedure a cold compress or ice can be applied. After the procedure the exposure of the treated area to direct sunlight is not allowed, also solarium, steam bath or sauna is prohibited for 7 to 10 days. Wearing sunglasses or prescription glasses with heavy frames is not allowed for up to 4 or 6 weeks after the procedure, as the filler is still soft and flexible and is not well strengthened in the tissue. In some cases, from 2 to 4 weeks after the initial procedure, a touch-up may be needed to shape and refine the nose more precisely.

The effect after a Liquid rhinoplasty lasts from 6 to 12 months. If the result is not satisfactory, the procedure is reversible (only when injecting fillers based on hyaluronic acid).

Non-surgical nose correction by injecting a hyaluronic acid can improve many cosmetic imperfections, but surgical rhinoplasty is the only way to actually reduce the size of the nose, reshape a droopy, bulbous or flattened nose tip, as well as correct breathing problems caused by a crooked nasal septum.
